5 out of 5:
Pricey, but high in quality
lawhorn, July 26, 2006
With its over 150 years of experience, the Financial
Times is one of the greatest newspapers in the world.
Recently rated as the most reliable news source by a
survey of journalists, politicians, and other
authorities, there are few newspapers that can match its
breadth of coverage or depth of analysis. Although it is
much lighter than the New York Times or the Wall Street
Journal, what it does contain is worth its weight in
gold. Besides, who can remember everything in the
newspaper anyway?
Although I would give five stars for this great paper, I
have to give four stars because delivery in my area is
very bad! Today, I got the Friday edition, when I should
be getting the Weekend edition! Getting a newspaper a
day late isn't very good, although perhaps it's more the
fault of the USPS than the FT.

out of 5: Worth a Financial Times
Subscription
mattjoe, July 16, 2004
I've read WSJ for about 15 years and just started FT
recently. Each has its own focus. WSJ is very sensible,
yet clearly has a conservative inclination...I tend to
share their perspective on most things.
FT seems less conservative in their observations and
certainly looks at things from a more international
viewpoint. The financial aspect of the paper has, I
believe, more to do with understanding how the world
operates economically whereas WSJ deals more with
day-to-day considerations.
Entertaining opposing (or at least differently slanted)
opinions can foster a more balanced perspective. So my
advice is, if you are able, to read them both.

out of 5: Awful delivery services
johnmeeks, June 20, 2008
As noted by many other reviews, the fulfillment services
by Synapse was awful! I called them 4 weeks after
ordering on Amazon and was told that they had processed
my order about 3 weeks ago. When I called Financial
Times directly, was told that they haven't even receive
the order yet. Synapse offered to contact Financial
times and get back to me 'in 3 to 5 days'. I just
cancelled my subscription (and will never use them
again) and subscribed directly at the FT website for the
same price with promise to deliver in 3 to 7 days.
Amazon should change their subscription partner since so
many people have such bad experience already. |

To be fair, this review reflects on the FT's delivery
service. Fire them! Bloody awful. I had subscribed to
the FT for a number of years. For depth, intellect,
foresight, instinct, and sheer quality of writing, no
other paper can touch it. "Had" being the operative
word. I would still be one of the faithful if their
(outsourced) delivery service could deliver it every day
(not every other day) before 7:00AM when I head off for
work, rain or shine, like my dear neighbors' newspapers
(NYT, USA Today, CT Post, etc.). If this immense
institution can work out their delivery issues, I'll be
back. |

5 out of 5:
Better than the WSJ!
jmelgren, March 25 2006
I received a
subscription as a gift and I've been very happy with it.
The paper does have some quirks, and I've come to
appreciate and eventually love them. First, its color -
the pink hue really stands out in a crowd, and unless
you work on Wall Street, some one will probably ask you
"what newspaper is that?". Second, its format... All
stories end on the same page they start on. This means
no more trying to find the end of your article, buried
in the back of the section. Third, the coverage: it is
based in London, and provides the best reporting you can
get on Europe, Asia, Mid East, and every emerging market
you can think of (AKA the Rest of the World). However,
the pink paper really does cover US news, politics, and
of course financial markets very well, often devoting
the front page to it. I also like the columnist,
including James Altucher, and the occasional opinion
piece by guys like Vladimir Putin. Now that you know I
love the paper let me tell you what I don't like: the
delivery. If you live near a major city, then your fine;
its delivered by the NY Times people here in Pittsburgh
and is on my doorstep every morning in a matching salmon
covered plastic bag. However, if you live out in the
country (like I used to) you may receive it via USPS, at
least one day late, sometimes more. |
