5 out of 5: Best
Financial Newspaper in the UK
skyrydr, June 16, 2006
The articles here are short and sweet. That is why I was
so suprised at how thin the newspaper was when I got my
first delivery. This can be a good thing when you are
busy, but sometimes I found myself wanting more in-depth
coverage. This is where the
financial times (FT)
tends to shine. Plus, WSJ has more articles addressing
one's lifestyle, i.e, the Personal Journal. Also, the
op-ed pieces are undeniably left-leaning but a bit more
balanced whereas FT tends to be pretty conservative and
one-sided.
Although I really enjoyed the newspaper, I cancelled my
subscription because of the horrible delivery service.
One final note, be prepared for the salmon pink color of
the newspaper. I know they want to stand apart from
other publications, but it makes the newspaper look like
it's been stuck in an attic for 10 years and makes it
kind of hard to read in low light settings.

5 out of 5: Our
Nation's Premier Newspaper
J. Reynolds, April 2, 2007
I love this newspaper and
its quality is unquestionable.
However, I would like to warn potential subscribers that
it has been more than seven weeks since I paid for the
subscription at Amazon and I still have not received my
first print yet. Considering the fact that I live in the
area where newspapers are delivered promptly (at least
my neighbors receive their FT and WSJ on time!), I think
this delay is unacceptable. I even called the customer
service several times and they are just pushing back the
expected delivery date telling me to wait a little more.
If you are trying to purchase your subscription through
Amazon (ie cheaper than the subscription price offered
by FT), consider the possibility that it could take
longer than it really should.

out of 5: for Readers with Attention
Spans
Cathy Stucker, December 28, 2007
Have been a newspaper addict for more than 30 years.
There is no better daily newspaper in this world. Great
European touch if you live in the US. The best: articles
finish on the same page they start! |

out of 5: Simply the best paper out there
by odiedude, October 19, 2003
I have been reading Financial Times for years because my
school provided free FT to those students who wake up
early enough to get a copy. It has gotten better and
better over the years. I like its political editorials,
and it provides much more international news than the
WSJ, which happens to be too "American-centric." It also
has a more diverse views on many international business
and political issues. |

Wall Street Journal, Please

Great paper
but Synapse Services, the subscription fulfillment
company, is either incompetent or running a scam. After
a month without delivery, I called the FT and they said
they hadn't received the order from Synapse but kindly
gave me a month free in the expectation that the Amazon
sub would kick in by then. It didn't. The paper stopped.
I called SS; they said they'd investigate and call me
back within five days. They didn't. Now Amazon says they
will credit my account. I'd rather have the paper than
the money. What a lot of hassle for nothing. Avoid this. |
